It’s funny:
You speak of stepping out of one’s comfort zone
Yet you continue to choose to stay close to home.
Your culture taught you what to value and how to pray.
But do those intentions fit who you are today?
The ethos which brought you to what you know
May not be the one to push you to grow.
“Do justly, love mercy” – these are your aims.
Your worth is not measured by their labels or frames.
I don’t see your questions as something to be feared.
I believe in your intelligence. So let me be clear:
There’s much more to goodness than what they see.
Your kindness, your gentleness, your integrity,
These virtues are evident even amid doubt and fear.
That you challenge truth doesn’t scare me. In fact, it’s what keeps me here.
