Why does poetry speak the fullest truth in our emptiest moments?
—
In a familiar voice a poem says, “Yes, I too am lonely.” And you revel together in the tacit remembrance of feelings you've left unvoiced.
~
“I too am heartbroken,” a poem whispers. And you nod knowingly at your shared despair.
~
“I too am scared,” reveals a poem. And you are reminded of your humanness. Finding strength in the connectedness innate in all of life’s suffering and joy.
