Took a couple days to process something that happened on Thursday night. Rob quietly wrote an op-ed on trade policy in @wsj. It is was well written and thoughtful AND it is totally inappropriate! It is my responsibility to make sure he and the public are not allowed to forget. Of course we want a redemption story, but to pretend like it never happened is insulting to me and devastating to anyone hoping for their own abuse to be taken seriously. #thepullofgrace

Initially, I didn’t want to speak out. I knew I was only given the platform I was because of who my ex-husband worked for. I didn’t want to build a name for myself on the destruction of someone else. I didn’t want to forever have my name be followed by “Ex-wife of” and my words be associated with his picture.
*BUT*
If this is what it takes to bring attention to domestic violence and abuse. If this is what it takes to model healing and forgiveness. If this is what it takes to help and teach about resilience and self-compassion, I’m here for it.
*AND*
As long as there is work to be done and lives to save, I’m not going anywhere. #thepullofgrace
